I don't have anything earth shattering to post, but I promised I'd update every few days, so I figured I should. :)
We're geetting settled into it being just the two of us. I mowed the lawn yesterday and did some homework. My class is ending tonight so I'm trying to end on a strong note and get everything in. I only have one assignment left and it's a team assignment. I'm currently waiting for team input to finish up that assignment. Then I get a week off!!!!
We went out to the berry patch (forest) and picked a ton of blackberries yesterday. We had enough to bake 2 blackberry pies. We tried to take one to a neighbor, but she wasn't home. Melody really likes Miss Alice, the neighbor who brough us muffins and has the new puppy. So, she was so excited to take it over there. We may try again tomorrow. If not, I guess we'll freeze it for us. I looked up storing tips and I can keep it in room temp for 2 days, then the fridge for 2 days and then the freezer. We ate a piece of our pie last night, but it was too runny. I didn't let it cool long enough. Tried it tonight after dinner and it was SO good. :)
We went into Plattsburgh today and ran some errands. We stopped at Rulf's orchard on the way home. We bought some fresh corn, blueberries and other veggies as well as some fresh baked rolls. They have lots of things in their little store, but it's also a huge property where you can go pick your own stuff. http://www.rulfsorchard.com/ Then we had lunch; sandwiches while looking out over the lake. Followed by dessert of blueberries in milk with sugar on them.
Melody played by herself for hours while I did more homework. Then we picked more berries. Enough for 2 more pies (even though I'm not sure what we're going to do with them.) We froze about 10 cups and put another bag in the fridge to snack on. Dinner was fresh corn and rolls from the orchard and I grilled chicken. We took Godiva out to the beach for a run, but she took off to smell the whole beach and wouldn't come back when I called her, so we cut that short. Melody is now in bed and I'm enjoying a glass of wine and watching Armageddon on tv. The moon was beautiful tonight as it was coming up. I looked out the window and saw it rising over Burlington and reflecting off the lake. I tried to take pictures, but had a hard time getting the color. When I changed the settings to capture color, i lost my focus. But I'll post it here so you have an idea of why we live here.
