The Project House

The Project House
This is the house we just moved 2000 miles to fix up.

Well, I've been in trouble for not posting anything in a while, but there has been NO time. Dad, Sean and Melody arrived on the 29th. I ended up going to pick them up because they were delayed just long enough to miss the last ferry at our dock. We grilled hamburgers and sat on the lawn for awhile. It was great!!!! The kids were running around, the grownups were relaxing looking out over the lake. It was exactly what we had pictured when we decided to move out here.

The next day we started the projects and have been running since. On Friday Sean's mom, dad and grandmother got here. The kids were thrilled to have more grandparents around. On Saturday (the 3rd), Sean's friend Shannon and her son, Marcus came to spend a few days. Shannon and I have talked several times, but never actually met face to face. It was great having them around for awhile. We had our big 4th of July event that evening because the Burlington fireworks (right across the lake from us) are the 3rd. We had about 20-25 people here and had the best time. Sean grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and shrimp kabobs, and steak. It was an incredible evening with friends and family.

Sunday, we all went to the old base marina in Plattsburgh for the kids to pick up rocks to do an art project with Grandma Ann. The water felt great and the dogs had a fantastic time chasing sticks into the lake. Godiva figured that game out real fast once Sean's parents labs showed her how it worked.

There have been many projects going on in the middle of all the fun. Sean's dad (also Steve) helped me with moving in furniture. My dad climbed on the roof and trimmed a tree that was ruining the shingles. Steve's been working on some plumbing replacing. Sean's been keeping tabs on all of them and doing his own projects. He pressure washed the deck and the house to get some of the spider webs that coated the outer shutters gone. Today we got a riding lawn mower for me to be able to keep the yard under control once all the guys are gone. It took Eric and his brother HOURS to do it with push mowers and there were 2 of them!!!!

Today I put my dad on a plane and sent him to spend the last week of his vacation with his brothers. It's been awhile since he's seen them all and I know he'll have a good time. It was sad to see him go, but I know he'll be back for more visits...sooner rather than later I hope. Now the guys are trying to level the side porch on the house and make it safer so we don't have to pull it off. Tomorrow Steve, Tiffany and the kids head back to Colorado. That will leave Sean's parents and grandma here to finish out the week.

It has been an eventful and fun week, but also hectic and exhausting. I also started back to school last week and am having a hard time keeping up with my school work in the midst of all the craziness, but took some time this morning to get back on track. I am COVERED in bug bites which is not surprising. I've tried to be a good sport and not complain too much, but today they're really driving me crazy. :)

Anyway...back to the projects. I just wanted to update for all those people who have been asking. Talk to you all soon! Love ya!!!!
