Bleh....

Been a few days since I posted...the weekend was full of work for me. I finished painting the trim in the front rooms. That was incredibly tedious and frustrating for me. I am not an accomplished painted and do not have a wide stretch of patience. Trying to paint around french doors and paint windows and doors with old original wood trim was not my idea of a fun weekend. The change once I started was incredible though. I love the new look and am glad to have it done. I learned some ways to do it better next time (the trim is through the WHOLE house so I have lots of opportunites for improvement.) I uploaded a few pictures of the finished rooms...finished before decorating, I should say. Still lots to do, but the big things are done. For comparison....the trim used to all be the color of the pocket doors. Since those are still not totally functional, I decided it'd be counterproductive to paint only half of them at a time. The new trim is a high gloss white that makes it look clean and bright in the rooms.

Monday I took Melody to the kids hour at the library. She enjoyed it, but won't be going back. It's only for the next 2 weeks and she'll be in summer camp so it's something we'll have to remember for next summer. She's very excited about summer camp and I recieved the confirmation letter this week. Lots going on for her. I have to pack a lunch and two snacks every day as well as swim items and towels and change of clothes and other odds and ends. Lots to keep track of EVERYDAY for 2 weeks. I'm anxious fot it to start though. She is getting really stir crazy in the house and is starting to drive me a little crazy while I'm working. I'm trying to be patient, but there are some days I think she purposely looks for things to get on my nerves.

I have been fighting a cold for a couple days and it hit full force today. I hardly slept last night and was miserable this morning. Sean recommended getting out of the house and doing something other than errands and house work so I gave Melody the choice: VT Teddy Bear Factory tour, Ben & Jerry's Factory Tour, or the VT Wildflower Farm. She chose the teddy bears so off we headed to the ferry. We hit up the tour for $2. It was fun...more cute than anything. It's only 25 min, but she enjoyed it and became an active participant by the end. Then I let her "make a friend". She chose the Holstein bear (with the cow print) since it had our name. She named it "Lovey" and picked out a purple sundress for it. Then we hit a couple interior design stores and late lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. It was a good day. We headed down to downtown Burlington to catch our ferry back home. On the ferry ride, a demon took over my child and she became absolutely impossible. What started as a minor disagreement turned into a full blown tantrum in the middle of a boat. It was awful...so she has lost the newly aquired "Lovey" until tomorrow and spent the rest of the evening in her room. The positive side of this is that when we sat down to discuss the situation before bed, she was understanding and cried when she told me how sorry she was. She is grounded from the TV for 5 days. Hopefully it was a learning experience. I was very disappointed to end the good day on that note. :(
I've spent the evening trying to sort out my studying for the CLEP test. It's going to be a lot harder than I thought and I am worried about it. I have planned out a study schedule and will have to stick to it if I have any hope of passing this test for all 6 credits. I'm hoping to have more time/energy to concentrate next week while Melody is at camp. Now, I'm heading to bed to try to sleep off some more of this retched cold which has taken hold.

  1. I see Lovey made it into the pictures. CUTE!

And I am sure that she does seem to try to find things to get to you - she is trying to get your attention! I think I remember my daughter doing something like that too, sometimes. But maybe my memory is failing me.
